Press coverage following the NEC Solutions Showcase 2012

NEC Display Solutions and its partners came together at the O2 Arena. Although the weather wasn't on NEC's side with the wind shaking the tent-like roof of the Arena Nonetheless, the event was well attended. It's attraction is that the Solutions Showcase is one of the very few places where you can actually see solutions, with several companies working together to create something a customer might buy. Out of the wide open space of the O2 Arena NEC ha d a darkened exhibition space that was pleasing to the eye. The Showcase is ever more popular and some of the solutions on show could have done with a little more space to do them justice. Some of the real eye catchers included a 3D holograph projection by Wonderworks. Visitors saw a holograph of a model who was present in real-life as well -- very cool. Another real winner was a dome projection of the night sky. Getting in was a bit like going through the birth canal but once inside the struggle was worth it. Outside of these showstoppers, the displays were divided into different zones. The zones included transport, retail, DOOH, education, 3D, professional office and an innovation showcase.

The #NECshowcase is now a must attend event in the UK professional AV calendar. All the usual suspects from the market were there, plus many who you don’t see at other shows. These include a good spread of end users as well as senior management from systems integrators.

No doubt one of the things that makes the #NECshowcase so good is their attention to detail – rare in many corporates these days as employees simply just-do-their-job . . . one look at how good the NEC brochure for the event was will demonstrate just how professionally everything was planned. The brochure is well worth a look and would make many exhibition organisers weep.

Attended the NEC Showcase event yesterday. It was packed, which despite the bad weather was very encouraging for the industry. Thanks for an educational show, great hospitality and wonderful lunch. As for the screens and the companies (will be reporting about them) displaying their technologies, it outclassed last year's event which in essence will make one look forward to the next. The developments on the technology and solutions side showed leaps and bounds. Again my respects for an excellent show.
